Demonstrate a commercialization-capable, modular, and secure approach that accelerates adoption of microgrids in the state of California. The project will develop and deploy Virtual Wide-Area Microgrids (V-WAM) within disadvantaged communities that span multiple IOU service territories and involve microgrids with differetn sizes for disaster-readiness, resiliency and grid services.

The installation of the solar photovoltaic panels on the rooftop and/or parking lot is statutorily exempt. The installations are on the roofs of existing buildings and parking lots. The associated equipment takes up less than 500 square feet of ground surface and will be located on the same or immediately adjacent as the solar panels.
