Document Description
The use of ocean water for cooling the generators at the site has terminated. As a result, the applicant proposes to permanently seal the intake and discharge tunnels for Unit 3 and 4. Similar to the closure of the intake and discharge tunnels for Units 1 and 2 in 2011. Divers will enter the tunnels via the existing forebay and will install steel dowels into the existing tunnel walls and will weld a steel framework underwater to act as plugs together with an engineered marine concrete that will be used to fill the tunnels. All construction and plugging activity takes place underwater at the site.
