Document Description
The City of Redding proposes a bridge replacement project on Sharon Avenue over the Anderson-Cottonwood Irrigation District (ACID) Canal. The project is needed as this bridge structure provides the only access to the residential homes located on Sharon Dr., channel degradation has been observed at the piers, and the existing structure does not meet current local and federal standards. The three-span one-lane bridge, built in 1976, has a single 15-foot wide travel lane, plus a barrier-separated sidewalk along the south side of the bridge. The project proposes to replace the bridge in the same location as the existing structure with a new single-span concrete structure. The new bridge would be 28 feet wide and consist of two 10-foot travel lanes, a 6-foot sidewalk, and barriers. Work includes bridge removal and construction, tree and vegetation removal, earthwork, borrow/import material, retaining walls, utility modification, paving, striping, and sign installation. Temporary construction easements will be required.
