Document Description
DTSC has approved the Sedgwick Elementary School Expansion Project Removal Action Workplan pursuant to authority granted under chp 6.8, div 20, sections 25323.1 and 25356.1 of the health and safety code. The RAW was prepared on behalf of the Cupertino Union School District. The 1.48-acre expansion parcel is identified by the Santa Clara County APN 375-40-067, and located at 10480 Finch Ave, Cupertino, CA. The project proposes to excavate approx 300 cy of shallow soil, where lead and the OCP chlordane were found to exceed their respective action level. The removal of the contaminated soil will reduce the human health-based risk to an acceptable standard for residential use. In 2017 the district acquired the site for potential future expansion of the existing Sedgwick Elementary School. The district has not identified specific plans for the site, however, the expansion will not result in the addition of classrooms or students to the existing elementary school.
