Document Description
This project entails the excavation and recovery off tooth and bone fragments of a mammoth (possibly skull and mandible) that are being actively eroded from a bank of unconsolidated gravel sands. Removal of the fossils is essential for the protection and conservation of these rare 200,000 to 12,000 years old mammoth specimens. Once the target level has been reached and all encountered aechaeological artifacts and fossils have been recorded and extracted, the removed and screened sediment will be replaces in the excavated space and groomed to match the appearance of the surrounding ground surface.
