Document Description
CDFW has executed Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2016-0135-R5, pursuant to section 1602 of the fish and game code to Catalina Island Conservancy. The project is limited to the replacement of three bridges on Middle Ranch Rd. A fourth bridge will be repaired. The existing structural condition of the bridges is inadequate based on the findings of an evaluation. The existing bridges are of timber construction and are supported on timber piles of unknown length. The abutments are constructed of timber walls retaining cobble and dirt fill. At bridges 1 through 3 the abutments will be removed and piers will be cut at ground level, and new abutments and free span bridges will be installed. At Bridge 4, during repairs it may be decided to remove the bridge completely and utilize an Arizona style crossing. If this is the chosen course of action, a new notification will be required.
