Document Description
DTSC has adopted a Neg Dec and approved the modifications and renewal of the Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (Permit) for Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc. (Safety Kleen), as authorized by the CA Health and Safety Code, Chapter 6.5, and the Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Safety Kleen currently operates under a Permit issued on June 28, 2006. A permit renewal authorizes the continued transfer, treatment, and storage of hazardous waste. The facility is not a hazardous waste disposal facility. The Permit became effective on July 30, 2018 and will expire on July 30, 2028. Safety Kleen proposed in their permit renewal application the following changes to their Sacramento Facility: Construction of two additional 25,000 gallon aboveground storage tanks for storage and transfer of used oil, spent antifreeze, and non-hazardous waste water (e.g., oily water); Increase the size of the aboveground storage tanks that were previously approved to operate in the 2006 hazardous waste permit but never constructed from 12,400 gallons and 24,650 gallons to 25,000 gallons. These tanks are to be used for the storage and transfer of either used oil, spent antifreeze, and non-hazardous waste water; Store up to 10,560 gallons of hazardous waste in containers in an additional area located in a warehouse building currently located onsite.
