Document Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would provide $496,338 to fund the Sagehen Forest Project, which would involve landscape scale low intensity prescribed fire activities following the pile-burning and timber removal activities, which are scheduled to be completed in late spring 2018. The project would reintroduce fire through broadcast burning to a min of 973-acres and up to 1,500 acres as an ecosystem process to reduce fuel accumulation, over multiple-years. Prescribed burn treatments would enhance water resources for both the ecosystem and downstream water users, and enhance key reproductive and foraging habitat for wildlife, in the Sagehen Experimental Forest. The project would follow previous efforts to thin the forest.
