Document Description
The Kresge College Non-Academic project is part of an ambitious plan to provide student housing on the University of California Santa Cruz campus. The proposed action is an amendment to the previously approved project to expand the housing scope to nearly double the number of beds originally designed. Expanded housing is proposed at seven of the 12 existing buildings, which will be reconstructed with an additional floor. The amended project takes advantage of the existing high ceiling heights on the upper floor while maintaining the existing footprint for efficiency and to respect the historical integrity of the original buildings and college site plan. In addition, additional housing would be provided at reconstructed buildings previously planned for student support and at a new infill housing building at the south end of the site , adding to the nearby existing Porter and Kresge infill housing. In addition to housing, the remaining five existing buildings will be renovated for student support space, college academic space and residential life programs. A newly constructed Town Hall will provide assembly space for students, and new utilities, circulation infrastructure and stormwater management systems for the site will also be included.
