Document Description
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), pursuant to authority granted under California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 4.5, Chapter 20, Section 66270.61, has issued an Emergency Permit to Allergan Inc., to treat hazardous waste through a controlled reaction with a chemical solution. Tetrahydrofuran; Diethyl Ether; Tert Butyl Methyl Ether; Ethyl Vinyl Ether; Ethylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether; Acetaldehyde; Diethylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether; 1,4 Dioxane; 1-Phenyl-1H tetrazole; 1-Hydroxybensotriazole; Diphenylphosphoryl Azide; Tosyl Azide; Benzoyl Peroxide; 2,2 Azobisisobutyronitrite; Diazald; 3-Chloroperoxybenzoic Acid. The hazardous waste items expired and are currently being stored at Allergan Inc., located at 2525 Dupoint Drive, Irvine, CA 92612. DTSC has determined as a safety precaution to prevent an accident or severe injury, an Emergency Permit should be issued to chemially stabilize the hazardous waste prior to transportation off-site by Clean Harbors Environmental Services. The treatment of the hazardous waste involves the addition of solution to the containers in a controlled manner to reduce the reactive and ignitable characteristics of the chemicals.
