Document Description
Repair the asphalt roadway and parking area of the maintenance yard at Columbia State Historic Park to provide improved road and parking facilities for park maintenance staff. Work will: In the maintenance yard and along the currently paved entry road: fix potholes, seal all cracks and, if needed, grind out bad spots and patch; install a slurry type coating or fresh layer of asphalt as a top coat; and if desired, stripe for parking spaces (in the maintenance yard). From the entry road: along a 12' wide by approx 200' long alignment excavate and remove up to 8" of gravel and underlying soil. Widen alignment to 38 ft wide just behind the carpenter's shop to tie into the concrete roll up door pad at the back of that shop; install 5 1/2" of road base and compacted to at least 95% compaction; install 2 1/2" of asphalt; and clean out the ditch alongside the fence and grade so water runoff will not undermine the new asphalt. For a new paved parking area alongside entry road: excavate and remove up to 8" of gravel and underlying soil in an approx 25' x 65' gravel parking lot alongside the entrance road; install 5 1/2" of road base and compacted to at least 95% compaction; and install 2 1/2" of asphalt and stripe for parking places.
