Document Description
The project is limited to stream impacts to the Santa Clara River associated with the dewatering of SC Water's 84-inch treated water transmission pipeline to replace a 72-inch butterfly valve and make general site improvements that including replacing the security fencing with masonry block fencing. Two different discharge activities are required: 1) initial draining discharge of the 84-inch treated water pipeline and 2) discharge due to leakage passing through the valves. The initial draining discharge of 1.879 million gallons (MG) to dewater the pipeline will occur continuously over a two-day period, which would result in a discharge rate of 670 gallons per minute or 1.47 cubic feet per second. The discharge due to leakage passing through the valves is estimated to be 122.839 MG of potable water into Los Angeles County of public Works catch basins via a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe maximum rate of 3,000 gpm (6.7 cfs) intermittently for up to 3 weeks.
