Document Description
The project rehabilitates approx. 12,300 linear feet of Pipeline 5, an existing 96-inch diameter Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP) of the Second San Diego Aqueduct. Rehabilitation consists of installing welded steel liners inside the existing PCCP through nine excavated access portals measuring approx. 60 feet long by 20 feet wide. Personnel and equipment access will also be made through structures along the pipeline alignment to support the work. In addition to pipeline relining, the project includes work to rehabilitate existing appurtenances such as blowoffs, pumpwells, and combination air release/air vacuum valves. Project work will be confined to the Water Authority's existing rights of way, and a temporary construction staging yard sited on vacant land owned by the Water Authority. The project includes implementing Water Authority Natural Community/Habitat Conservation Plan design features.
