Document Description
CAL FIRE proposes to replace a carport-style metal awning building in front of the apparatus bay with a steel building of similar footprint (20' x 32' x 16' tall) on existing disturbed gravel apron, with insulation, roll-up doors and heaters to prevent freezing. The 2-bay equipment (1948) and associated office-barracks (1952), mess hall (1949), gas and oil (1945), and storage held (1965) will remain for use as a fire station, except that the new, larger fire engine will be secured in a new building on the front apron. Work also includes an extension of the electric line from the electric meter extension of the gas from the propane tank and trenching within the building footprint for footing. Project location is 3004 Bear Valley Rd., Hornitos, CA 95325. Estimated duration of heavy construction is 90 days, with finish work continuing another 180 days. The project will occur on previously disturbed areas within an active fire station. The site is surrounded by foothill woodland and rangeland.
