The proposed project consists of the construction, operation, and maintenance of a new, lined evaporation pond at the microalgae production facility owned/operated by Earthrise Nutritionals. The pond will be built on the applicant's 189-acre existing facility and will be used to receive wastewater generated by the harvesting of algae from the Spirulina Harvest Plant Facility and its Linablue Extraction Facility. The SHPF and LBEF are also located at the project site. The annual wastewater discharged to the Pond from the two processes will be approx 16.6 M gallons. The pond will be constructed in accordance with title 27 of CA Code of Reg, and lined to prevent infiltration of wastewater into native soil as required by a permit issued by RWB.
