Document Description
The focus of the Low Flow Efficiency Improvements at Pumping Plant 7-1 is to improve efficiency during conveyance of low flows. Pumping plant 7-1 currently consists of four 25 cfs (11,200 gpm) pumps. Low flow deliveries to lateral 7 are achieved by recirculating pumped water back to the suction side of PP-1, while maintaining 2 cfs flow from the San Luis Canal. Consequently, energy used to pump the recirculated flow is lost across the globe valve. To improve the efficiency for conveying low flows, Westlands proposes to install a new 350 hp low flow pump (2 to 13 cfs), 2300-volt variable frequency drive, switchgear main, metering, and motor control center system to increase the low flow efficiency of PP7-1.
