Document Description
Project consists of reducing roadside vegetation and improving community escape routes on 198 acres in the community of Bray, including the Butte Creek Highlands subdivision. Project will create fuelbreaks and/or shaded fuelbreaks up to 500 ft.-wide, by thinning overstocked brush, small trees, and limbing ladder fuels. Activities will include, but are not limited to, thinning, pulling back brush to chipper (up to 65% of the project) or pile or stack into windrows (up to 35% of the project), up to approx. 150 ft. (no more than 5 ft. wide and 3 ft. tall windrows arranged with limbs and brush in a linear fashion, i.e., limb butts or tops facing ends of windrow(s)) to other windrow ends for CALFIRE crew pile burning or mastication. Physical removal of debris from these cut areas, pulling back approx. 150 feet from structures, powerlines and roads is hand release contractor's key objective. Residual trees will be pruned to a height of 8-10 fee, but not more than 50% of the crown may be removed. All mature trees will be retained. Trees greater than 10" dbh will not be removed unless that are a hazard to the road or personnel. The project area will be fully stocked upon completion of the project.
