Project requires work at four separate locations, MP243.09, MP256.12, MP280.04, and Coastal branch MP4.30. The repairs would be done by two contractors from B&B Communications. All of the locations, except for MP280.04, require the exact same repair. Due to being exposed to the elements the insulation on communication cable splice pairs has deteriorated and some cable pairs have become corroded and/or separated. To prevent further wear on the cable, the existing pedestal needs to be replaced with a splice case. The repairs would be performed as follows, excavate (4 ft. x 4ft x 4ft) and remove existing pedestal, test the cable in both directions, remove corroded section of cable, and install new splice case with post. The repair at MP280.04 is slightly different, here a severe kink was found on the cable next to the existing splice case. this repair will be done as follows, excavate (4ft x 5ft x 4ft) and remove existing Christy box and splice case, inspect cable for corrosion/moisture, cut cable and re-splice, then install a new splice case and Christy box.
