Document Description
An approximately 80-foot long, single span bridge will be installed across Brainard Slough. The bridge structure is a pre-manufactured, precast, concrete slab with an asphalt trail surface. The bridge would be supported on each end with abutments and wingwalls and seven 14-inch diameter CISS piles approximately 50 feet deep. The failed railroad crossing at Brainard Slough will be retrieved including two 48-inch collapsed and heavily rusted corrugated metal culverts, as well as a significant amount of fill material from the railroad grade. As part of the project, the failed culvert pieces, and debris (timber ties, supports, and rock) would be removed from the primary slough channel. The remaining unstable railroad embankment will be regraded to provide a stable slope and rock-slope protection would be installed to stabilize the shoreline and reduce the potential for ongoing erosion. The embankment stabilization will extend approximately 33 feet on each side of the slough channel. The proposed work window is July 1 through September 30, 2022.
