- The purpose of the project is to replace 8 culverts on State Route (SR) 299, at Post Miles (PMs) 21.03, 24.04, 26.64, 27.14, 29.54, 31.01, 31.27, and 34.20 in Humboldt County. The goal of the project is to maintain public safety and prevent highway damage due to potential drainage system failures. Common drainage system elements that will employed include culverts, down-drains, headwalls, dikes, drainage inlets and energy dissipation (rip-rap). Common problems with existing drainage systems include corroded and damaged culverts, undersized culverts, inadequate or missing headwalls or rip-rap, and lack of down-drains.
