The project will develop automated communication among interconnection parties (utility, customer, resource provider, local jurisdiction), establish scalable and interoperable infrastructure standards and communication protocols, and define energy services value and incorporate into grid planning and operations. Activities will include field verification and testing of energy services performance. The communication systems and distributed control architecture will be demonstrated at the Camden Substation in santa Ana, CA to verify its effectiveness of DER integration at high penetration levels.
Operation of or minor alteration to existing facilities and mechanical equipment that involves no expansion of use. The activities funded by the agreement will not cause a direct physical change in the environment or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment because work will utilize existing technologies and programs and improve their integration with existing grid interconnection and operation processes.
