Document Description
Project proposes to remove the existing metal beam guardrail and curb, and to install approx. 420 feet of Type 60 concrete barrier on the left side of the on-ramp. The purpose of the project is to improve safety. The 2016 Traffic Investigation Report identified five wet accidents at the project location. Three of the five accidents involved vehicles that ran off the left edge of pavement. The Caltrans Manual indicates that the severity of site conditions for errant motorists can be lowered by installing a longer barrier on the left shoulder.
