Document Description
The SJFD vegetation control program is an annual maintenance activity that the field division uses to control growth of unwanted vegetation along aqueduct road, structures, and buildings. The SJFD vegetation control program is critical in meeting aqueduct visibility, accessibility, and drainage requirements, as well as to protect the structural integrity of aqueduct embankments. The program includes spraying herbicides along aqueduct roads, fence lines, and bar/v-ditches, and he removal/burning of plant debris at designated sites located at the aqueduct 5:1 slop, along paved/ graveled areas of the primary/secondary roads, within clear staging areas near pumping plants facilities, and spoil sites. The vegetation control programs extend, on both sides of the aqueduct from MP172.58 to MP293.45 and from MP 0.00 to MP 14.84 on the Coastal Branch. Spraying would also occur in areas within and around pumping plants and any other structures located within the DWR right of way.
