Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
S: 15307,15308
Reasons for Exemption
The Commission relied for purposes of CEQA on the Class 7 and 8 categorical exemptions. In General, both exemptions apply to agency actions to protect natural resources and the environment. The regulations define annual fishing seasons and daily and yearly bag limits. A combination of unprecented environmental and biological stressors began to take their toll on abalone populations, including warmer than normal waters and decreasing food resources, leading to starvation conditions.
