Document Description
Perform Geotechnical testing on Hearst Castle Road at Hearst San Simeon State Historic Monument for the development of engineered plans for permanent repairs to the storm-damaged road and complete temporary road repairs to prevent additional erosion while the engineered plans are developed. Project will: At Site 1: -Utilize a bulldoze to move approximately 200 cubic yards of landslide materials upslope from and approximately 125'x125 area to rebuild the road shoulder from which it slid; -Drill four 4" diameter holes to a depth of 30 feet to obtain soil samples; -Install plastic visqueen and sandbags to prevent saturation, stabilize the slide area, and prevent soil movement during the coming winter, and -install weed free straw over all areas where ground disturbance has occurred. At Site 2: -Drill four 4" diameter holes to a depth of 30 feet to obtain soil samples; and -Install weed free straw over all areas where ground disturbance has occurred.
