- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) propsoes a Traffic Safety project to install an emergency passageway at post mile 19.9 (Location #1) and upgrade an existing emergency passageway at post mile 26.3 (Location #2) to meet current standards on Interstate 5 (I-5) in Stanislaus County. All work will occur within Caltrans right of way. The purpose of this project is to provide access to opposing lanes of traffic on I-5 and to meet current safety standards. The need for this project is to improve effiency of first responders who respond to emergencies.
