Document Description
The project involves proposed amendments to the Long Beach Municipal Code (LBMC) to expand the procedural and operating requirements for massage establishments. Amendments to LBMC Title 5 include mandatory State certification for all massage practitioners. Police review of massage license applications, limited operating hours, and prohibition of adult materials, alcohol and controlled substances. Amendments to Title 21 include changing Massage Therapy definition to Massage Establishment and requiring an Administrative Use Permit for primary Massage establishments in commercial zoning districts. Additionally, special conditions for primary use Massage Establishments will be added to LBMC Chapter 21.52.
