The project is located 15-20 miles southwest of Merced in Merced County. The project will improve fish migration and restoration flow capacity in the Eastside Bypass by reinforcing about 2 miles of Eastside Bypass levees, modifying the Eastside Bypass Control Structure and Dan McNamara Road culvert, and removing two weirs and constructing a replacement well in the Merced National Wildlife Refuge.
