- Document Description
- The County Sanitation District No. 2 of LA County is the project proponent of the Food Waste Receiving and Digestion Program at the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant. The proposed project would include the receipt of food wastes to be co-digested with biosolids in existing digesters to generate biogas, which would primarily be processed into renewable natural gas to be sold as vehicle fuel at an existing CNG fueling station located at JWPCP, or used for energy production. The proposed project would divert up to 610 tons per day of food waste from landfills. The new food waste station, which includes unloading stations, storage tanks, grit and plastic film removal equipment, pumps and associated piping and connections to the existing digesters, would receive 310 dry tpd of food waste in the form of liquid slurry. The existing Liquid Waste Disposal Station would receive an additional 300 dry tpd of food waste in the form of liquid slurry.
