Document Description
CDFW has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2018-0179-R3, pursuant to 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the City of Santa Cruz. The City of Santa Cruz Water Department proposes to replace an existing two million-gallon steel potable water storage tank (University Reservoir 5 or U5 tank) that serves the University of California Santa Cruz campus. The proposed project includes decommissioning and removal of U5 tank and construction of a new steel two million-gallon storage tank on existing foundation and appurtenance. The proposed project will also replace a water transmission line within El Refugio Way that connects U5 tank to the City of Santa Cruz main on Empire Grade Road. Due to the limited size and project site constraint, the proposed project will completely cover the seep wetland with high density polyethylene temporary construction mat that will have a load-bearing capacity of at least 60 tons to create a staging area for the project. The placement of the construction pad will impact 0.025 acres of an on-site seep wetland and 65 lf of perennial drainage.
