Okieville Emergency Water Supply Project
NOE - Notice of Exemption
The residents of Okieville depend predominantly on shallow private wells for their water supply. Due to the effects of the ongoing drought, a large number of these wells have gone dry, are going dry, or the water contains contaminants making it unsafe to drink. As a result, the residents of this disadvantaged community do not have a reliable supply of safe drinking water. DWR has identified approximately 80 residential properties that are in need of a reliable and sustainable solution for drinking water .
This project falls under these Proclamations and Executive Orders by providing a safe and sustainable domestic water supply to residents in an area wih failing wells. The drought demands immediate action to prevent or mitigate the loss of water supply.
