Document Description
The project proposes to convert approximately 40,000 square feet (SF) of artificial soccer turf to a temporary valet parking area on the top level of the East Campus Parking Structure. Parking would occur on the east side of the parking structure and no public access would be provided. Scope of work includes removal of the existing artificial turf field, a small amount of paving and ornamental landscaping. A new driveway from Medical Center Drive would provide parking access and a temporary parking surface would be installed. The valet parking lot would provide approximately 80-100 spaces and would help address some of the parking needs while parking lot P751 is closed for the construction of the Outpatient Pavilion (OPP). The project consists of the conversion of an existing structure from recreation use to parking which serves as an accessory structure to the Medical Center. Currently, the campus has shortage of parking, and although new structures are being built and planned, temporary solutions such as this help relieve the issue for the time being. New vehicle trips would not be added to the Medical Center because the patients are already coming to the center. The additional trips coming to the parking structure would be managed by valet parking attendants who would minimize congestion and confusion, unlike if it was open to the public.
