99/180 CONNECTOR SAFETY LIGHTING
NOE - Notice of Exemption
The purpose of the project is to reduce the number of nighttime collisions. The current traffic level at the ramp has met Caltrans' threshold to install safety lighting. Moreover, the Caltrans Traffic Investigation Report from September 2014 discovered that 11 out of the 22 collisions at the project location occurred at night. The project proposes to install 5 highway lights and 8 electrical pull boxes along the connector ramp of State Route (SR) 99 southbound to SR 180 eastbound. The foundations of the highway lights are about 5 feet deep and 30 inches in diameter. The trenching to install the electrical conduit would be about 30 inches deep, 6 inches wide and 1600 feet long.
This proposed project will make a minor safety change to an existing public structure, connetcor ramp, without expanding its existing use. The proposed will not expand the size or capacity of the current connector loop.
