Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to replace four existing GAZ-EX avalanche control shelters along with their plumbing and dosing tanks on State Route (SR) 88 in Amador County. Construction will occur entirely on United States Forest Service land in the Eldorado National Forest. The purpose of this project is to upgrade the existing GAZ-EX avalanche control system with new standard shelters, interior plumbing, and inertia exploder and supply lines. The need for this project is due to the severe deterioration of the current shelters from harsh weather and snow.
