Document Description
The project will reduce hazardous fire fuels around the local volunteer fire station and along the only ingress and egress route for 14 privately owned parcels, ranging from 40-200 acres. Doreen Drive serves as the only ingress/egress for the 40 residents. The project begins at the recently treated Bull Creek Road and follows Doreen Drive for 3 miles through densely wooded forests, decreasing in elevation from 2300 feet to 1200 feet. The project area was historically a grassland ridgeline that served as a firebreak, but now is 81% dense forest due to encroachment of Douglas-fir and tanoak, with patches of dense and dying non-native Ponderosa pine and various ladder fuels. Treatments include the removal of young trees, dead or dying trees, brush, and ladder fuels along Doreen Drive for a distance from 15-50 feet on either side of the road for a total of 39 acres of treatment.
