Document Description
A wash fan area has been targeted for removal during the upcoming low water periods of the Colorado River in the area of Walter's Camp. Excavation activities for the wash fan site would be conducted during low water periods (winter months when flows in the Colorado River are low and the fan is exposed) and be based on equipment availability. Wash fan removal is a reoccurring maintenance activity undertaken by Reclamation under the authority of the Colorado River Front Work and Levee System Act of 1946 (as amended, CRFWLS) for the purposes of controlling floods, improving navigation, and improving the flow of the Colorado River in Arizona, Nevada, and CA. Numerous washes drain directly into the lower Colorado River (between Davis and Imperial Dam).
