Document Description
Project proposes several upgrades and repairs to the Monte Vista Unit Headquarters compound, these include;
- Removal of two 1960s era hot mopped roof coverings on existing buildings nad replacement with asphalt shingles.
- Relocation of an existing 20 foot by 40 foot modular building.
- Placement of a 20 foot by 30 foot prefabricated "tough Shed" on concrete slab with attached 15 foot by 30 foot covered parking area.
- Installation of a 20 foot by 40 foot metal building on concrete slab and relocation of a 40-foot by 15-foot metal awning over adjacent parking area.
- Placement of a 24 foot by 40 foot prefabricated building on concrete slab.
- Excavation for, and placement of, approx. 375 feet of stacked block retaining wall to correct existing ,and prevent future, erosion and drainage issues.
Project is located on CALFIRE owned property at Monte Vista Headquarters located at 2249 Jamacha Road in the unincorporated area of San Diego County just south of the City of El Cajon. This area is dominated by single family housing, condominiums, apartment complexes and retail stores. The facility houses staff office buildings, training buildings, automotive shop, service center and emergency communication facility and vehicle and support equipment storage. all proposed project work will take place on previously-disturbed ground within the existing compound. Project activities include:
- Removal of 5200 sq. ft. of ho mop and gravel roofing materials to be disposed of at appropriate land fill and replaced with asphalt shingles.
- Excavation of approx. 200 cubic yards of soils to facilitate construction of approx. 375 linear feet by 4 foot high stacked block retaining walls. Spoils will be used as backfill and re-countered into surrounding areas.
- Movement of an existing 20-foot by 40-foot prefabricated building from current location 5 feet east to new location sited on cement piers. Placement of prefabricated 24 foot by 40 foot building and 20 foot by 30 foot "tough Shed" on concrete slabs from above.
- Erect 20 foot by 40 foot metal building and adjacent relocation of existing 15 foot by 40 foot awning on concrete slabs with 24 inch by 30 inch support footings requiring 46 cubic yards of transit mix concrete.
- Excavation, conduit placement, backfill and compaction of 140 linear feet of 12 inch wide by a maximum of 36-inch deep electrical trench and excavation, plumbing placement, backfill and compaction of 140 linear feet of 12 inch wide by a maximum of 36- inch deep sanitary sewer trench.
A contractor will perform the roof repair, metal building installation and tough shed installation. all remaining work will be performed by CALFIRE employees using a combination of dept.-owned and rental equipment. A variety of mechanized fuel powered equipment will be used to facilitate this project. This icnldues staff and contractor vehicles, a diesel dozer, diesel loader and diesel-powered rental excavators. The project will be implemented in stages and will take approx. 18 months to complete.
