Document Description
Project will include Sonic drilling at six sites all within the Eastside Bypass channel: four 40 feet deep borings downstream of the EBCS and two 30 feet deep borings in Dan McNamara Road crossing area. Sonic drilling will produce five inch diameter boreholes. All boreholes will be backfilled immediately with a mixture of native material and bentonite. The Project will take up to four days to complete and will be scheduled between October 1, 2017 and Nov. 1, 2017. Equipment to conduct project activities include an LS 600 track mounted Sonic drill rig (32 x 12 feet), a track mounted support rig, and up to three 4-wheel drive pick up trucks for support. Geotechnical investigations will be completed as part of the engineering design of the EBCS and Dan McNamara Road Crossing improvements. The geotechnical data will be used to identify soil characteristics that will then dictate available onsite borrow and construction requirements. DWR will be the beneficiaries of the Project. In compliance with Assembly Bill 52 CA Native American Heritage Commission was contacted and letters were sent out on Aug. 23, 2017 to the provided contact list.
