Document Description
Project includes repairs to one of the bypass gates of the Sweetwater Reservoir Urban Runoff Diversion System (URDS), which protects the Sweetwater Reservoir from polluted dry weather flows and other forms of stormwater pollution. The bypass gate receives water from Hansen's Creek. A recent inspection of the gate revealed an approx. 3-foot deep depression immediately adjacent to the gate's apron and was determined to be undermining the bypass gate structure. On Oct. 2, 2017, the depression was filled with rock as a temporary repair; an Engineering inspector will aspect the site and evaluate current conditions. The Sweetwater Reservoir is protected by the Sweetwater Reservoir Urban Runoff Diversion System (URDS). Undermining the Hanson's return system (URDS). Undermining of the Hansen's Creek bypass gate, which located on the second largest tertiary of the Sweetwater Reservoir, could result in severe impacts including , failure to divert polluted water to a detention pond, failure of the Reservoir Dr. roadway (when opened, the URDS bypass gate at Hansen's Creek serves the same purpose of a culvert), and flooding upstream of the structure.
