Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2020-0061-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, County of Sierra. The project is limited to the replacement of the existing Packer Lake bridge with a newly designed bridge upstream of the current bridge location. Construction will include installation of a 77-foot long by 28-foot wide single span bridge, with a new fill slope for the east abutment, concrete abutments on each side of the bridge span, rock slope protection in front of the new abutments, re-aligning the road approaches and removal of the old bridge. Existing water flows will be diverted through the project site to allow for work to occur in dry conditions. The project will permanently impact approximately 0.03 acre of Salmon Creek for installation of the new bridge. Additionally, the project will have 0.99 acre of temporary impacts and 0.11 acre of permanent impacts of Jeffery Pine/Lodgepole Pine Forest, and 0.07 acre of temporary impacts and 0.01 acre of permanent impacts to quaking aspen-black cottonwood riparian forest due to construction access and removal of the existing bridge. Construction is anticipated to be completed within one season.
