Document Description
CVWD proposes to expand rainfall gauge coverage within CVWD's service area. Recent high intensity summer storms in the Coachella Valley have resulted in flood events. These storms are limited in extent and have highlighted the need for a denser network of rainfall gauges to accurately quantify individual rain events. Construction is proposed for summer/fall 2017 for the duration of 5 work days. Construction equipment will consist of a truck and van, wheel barrow and shovels. The area of disturbance will be limited to five sf and vehicle access to the site along the existing dike access road. The site will be excavated to a depth of five ft. The rainfall gauge will be installed on a 3-ft diameter concrete slab. Total height of the rainfall gauge is approx 20 ft. To avoid or minimize construction impacts to the conservation area, construction activities will adhere to the CVMSHP's Adjacency Guidelines as relevant to the project and include project design measures related to minimizing noise effects and shielding light downward towards the developed area.
