The proposed project would involve the demolition of an existing administrative building and construction of a new event center that would include a joint-use performing arts and administrative building. As with current facilities on the Monte Vista campus, the new even center would be available for public use via a request through the Facilities Use Program within GUHSD. The proposed new event center would be two stories and approx. 18,500 GSF, featuring a 330-seat theater, parenting room, drama classroom, and 17 administrative offices with Student Services. Several small trees that are currently present within the proposed footprint would be removed outside the nesting breeding season (February 15 to August 31) to avoid impacts to nesting birds. Construction would begin in summer 2018 and continue for approx. 18 months.
