Document Description
Pursuant to Fish & Game code section 5061, the proposed project would add a new regulation, and amend three existing regulations, in order to allow CA businesses to receive rattlesnakes taken from the wild by permitted biological supply houses, and maintain captive colonies of such native rattlesnakes, for the purpose of developing and selling venom-derived pharmaceutical products. Regionally-specific antivenom and vaccines are necessary to successfully treat, and immunize against, rattlesnake envenomation. This proposed project is expected to benefit CA businesses, as well as public and domestic animal health and safety.
