Document Description
CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2017-0157-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, North Valley Rock LLC. Project is limited to placement of a temporary stream crossing for equipment access, and commercial extraction of alluvial sand and gravel (mixed aggregate materials) from the streambed of Stony Creek. Extraction will be conducted through "Bar Skimming" within the bed of Stone Creek. Heavy equipment such as rubber tired loaders, self-loading scrapers, excavators and dump trucks will be used to extract the aggregate material. Temporary stream crossing using corrugated metal culverts packed by native streambed material will be placed in Stony Creek to allow equipment access. All culverts will be placed in such a manner as to allow complete passage by fish species present in the creek. Areas of Vegetation consisting primarily of introduced giant cane or tamarisk growing on the ravel deposits will be removed and disposed of in a manner to preclude possible spreading. To the maximum extent possible, stands of native vegetation, including willows and Fremont cottonwoods will be preserved. Where the preservation in place is not feasible, willows needing to be removed will be transplanted to the outer banks of the stream to enhance native erosion control efforts.
