Document Description
This project is the redesign and repair of an existing outdoor amphitheater at the Elkhorn Slough Ecological Reserve including replacing the seating, electrical system, and lights and adding shade structure. The project addresses concerns for visitor safety and comfort with the replacement of the wood amphitheater benches with a solid recycled material which will also alleviate the constant upkeep and cost to maintain the aging seating. Installation of a shade structure will improve visitor enjoyment in the amphitheater by providing protection from rain and sun.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is exempt as it is the repair and replacement of portions of the existing deteriorated amphitheater including the seating, electrical, and lights. The site will have the same purpose and capacity as the original structure. The project includes the addition of a shade cover which will not increase the overall footprint of the facility. The project site consists of nonnative annual grasses and is adjacent to oak woodland. This is a high visitor use area. There are no known sensitive species on the project site. Demolition and construction will begin in august 2018, after the nesting season to avoid disturbance to any birds nesting in the woodlands.
