Document Description
The John Smith Road Landfill consists of a Class 1 Area and Class III Area, occupies approximately 95.47 acres. The Class 1 Area Hazardous Waste Management Unit encompasses approximately 5.11 acres and includes two inactive and closed hazardous waste disposal surface impoundments measuring less than one half acre each. The Class 1 area operated between 1977 and 1983 as an unlined disposal facility of hazardous liquid waste. Impoundment 1 received the liquid hazardous waste and Impoundment 2 served as the overflow protection during storm events.
