Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2017-0187-R1, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the California Department of Water Resources.
The project is limited to: 1) restoration and maintenance of the Rancheria/Reading Island side channel; 2) constructing a free-span bridge over the side channel; an 3) establishment and maintenance of two wet road crossings through the side channel. Reading island is located at RM 275 along the west (right) bank of the Sacramento River. This project involves the reconnection of a non-functional historic side channel to the main Sacramento River channel to increase juvenile salmonid rearing habitat and reduce habitat for invasive predatory species.
