Document Description
Take both scion and rootstock cuttings from all varieties of historic fruit trees in the orchard; Grow rootstock from rootstock cuttings and graft appropriate scion cuttings onto the historic rootstock or appropriate "foster rootstock" to grow new trees for planting; Plant the new trees according to the historic orchard grid; Protect newly planted trees with deer fencing until they grow large enough to survive without it; Mulch, water and prune the orchard trees; and remove competing vegetation
