The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2016-0192-R6, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). MWD proposes the removal of accumulated vegetation and sediment in the Lake Skinner Spillway and at the Lake Skinner Dam that has the potential to impede and compromise the proper functioning of the facilities. MWD is also proposing to excavate to restore flow capacity to Tucalota Creek through the intersection of Auld Rd. and Borel Rd. Routine maintenance would also be conducted semi-annually and following large storm events on an as-needed basis for all three projects. Project 1 consists of recurring temporary impacts to 0.046 acres of freshwater marsh. Project 2 consists of recurrent temporary impacts to 0.631 acres of Southern willow scrub/woodland and freshwater marsh. Project 3 consists of recurring temporary impacts to 0.066 acres of southern willow scrub, and a one-time temporary impact to 0.181 acres of non-native grassland. Habitat restoration will include non-native invasive species removal and enhancement of 1.37 acres within the Tucalota Creek/ Lake Skinner Watershed, and seeding to 0.181 acres of non-native grassland.
