Document Description
Replace two rotting wooden beam bridges on the Durphy Creek Trail in Richardson Grove State Park with two all-weather I-beam stringer bridges to improve public safety and guarantee continued public access to the Durphy Creek. For Removal: Suspend a tarp beneath the bridge structure to capture small debris that may fall during removal (and construction of the new bridge); attaching rigging components to nearby trees to transport materials to the site and to span across the creek to lift old bridge components out of place; dismantle the old bridge and remove all hardware from untreated redwood and scatter the untreated redwood across the forest floor, out of view; and remove treated wood and hardware from the site and dispose of at the maintenance yard. For Construction: Pour new 8' by 4' concrete abutments with connected mudsills in the same locations as those for the old bridge; use overhead rigging to lift into place and install prefabricated stingers; attach the new redwood decking and rails to the stingers; and disassemble the rigging and remove it from the site.
